The Problematics of Becoming Kartini's Regeneration in The Present Era

As Indonesian citizens, we must know who is R.A Kartini and her contribution for all Indonesian woman. She was a hero who struggles against the emancipation of women at the time. In her era, women weren't allowed to get the education except the nobles. Women also didn't get their rights such as deciding a life partner by themselves.

In the darkness of that era, Kartini arose with her thoughts. Kartini was one of the women who had different thoughts, that woman also must get their rights as fair as the man get. In addition to her thoughts, she had an inovation to advance Indonesian women by building a school for common women. Because of her contribution, she has made Indonesian women undergo the advancement up to now and made her established as a National Hero. 

At the present, we can savor the equality of rights, the women get the education as the men does, the right of freedom, autonomy, etc. In fact, from that advancement there are great woman figures today such as Tri Risma Harini, Sri Mulyani, Susi Pudjiastuti, etc. The presence of great woman can also bring positive impact in the development and progress of a nation. Because advancing and developing a nation isn't only men who can participate, but women also have the opportunity and contribution for the nation.

Therefore, Kartini's struggle must continue to live and develop. Her persistence and enthusiasm must always be burning in every woman's soul, because Indonesia will need the New Kartini to create innovations and bring Indonesia into the better development and advancement.

For being a Kartini in this era, of course, we will face new and various problems.

As a woman who have a role, surely we will get the skewed opinions of achievements we’ve achieved. Indeed, it is common for women to fall over each other. Sadly, as women we don’t only have problems with "feminism" in society, but also we have to face the problems of one woman and another.

The problem of feminism in society is enough to create a tight space for some women. How do women continue to be valued, whether in clothes or in life. In fact, there are many questions and views that make women seem helpless. Career or marry? Or the view, "Women don't need to be high in education just to end up working in the kitchen." Even though a woman is capable of holding both roles. And not the least, women who have ambitions are considered to be against the tradition. "Research says: potential and success are positively correlated with men and sometimes have consequences for women", Najwa Shihab said. The absence of support from fellow women, the environment, and the mindset makes women back off from progress.

Much needs to be improved, and it starts with yourself. Because no one knows women better than herself. While as a women we should also grab the hands of other women, support one's progress as well to strive for advancement of ourselves. Because everyone, every woman is able to create progress through mutual support and togetherness. Then how should we, women, new Kartini candidates bring changes to face this?

1. Able to respect yourself. Because, people who fail to respect themselves do not have the right to judge others. We must feel that we are something valuable and eliminate negative thought patterns that can hinder success. Because, self-esteem and success are not determined by other people.

2. Always enthusiastic in the process of developing oneself to be better and better. And you don't need to be afraid to develop your potential, because the potential that continues to move forward is an award itself.

3. Know what is being pursued and realize it.

4. Mutual support to create the advancement each other and create harmony.
